Our Pastor

Dr. Earl Clifton Stuckey, Sr., is first and foremost a man of God. He is widely respected as an ordained preacher, teacher, evangelist and revivalist. He served as Pastor Stovall’s Assistant for seven years before being elected pastor of the Progressive Missionary Baptist Church of Berkeley on September 22, 1977.

Pastor Stuckey has a true love for the Word of God and God’s people with a passion for evangelism. He has committed many years to studying God’s word “to show himself approved, a workman that need not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth" (II Timothy 2:15) and made evangelism a cornerstone of PMBC under his leadership (Matthew 28:19-20).

Pastor Stuckey is a graduate of Bay Cities Bible Institute (BCBI) and in 1979 received an honorary Doctorate of Divinity Degree. After completing his studies, he was appointed to the faculty – as the Institute’s first African American teacher. He went on to serve with distinction for ten years. Dr. Stuckey has also studied at Campus Crusade for Christ (San Bernardino, California), and attended numerous conferences and seminars offered by various leaders in the Christian community. Pastor Stuckey has proclaimed the Word of God in pulpits across this great country and extended an invitation to share from his pulpit to some of the most renowned preachers of our time. “He is an accomplished author of four books: Keep Your Balance (1997) and Keep Your Eyes on the Prize (1999), Buckle Your Seatbelt (2017), and Our Roots and Our Fruits (2024).”

Pastor Stuckey and our pastor’s wife, Kay Frances Stuckey, have been married for over 73 years. Sister Stuckey, a godly woman in her own right, has championed scripture memorization (Ps 119:11) and has worked tirelessly alongside her husband in the Children’s Ministry. She served as a teacher for over 50 years. They are the proud parents of three children: Belinda Kay Stuckey (now deceased), Earl Clifton Stuckey, Jr., and Paul Anderson Stuckey; nine (9) grandchildren, and ten (10) great grandchildren, and two (2) great-great grandchildren.
